As a year-round arts organization, FAC seeks to support artistic community and events beyond Firefly.

Firefly Meetups

Every Tuesday at around 7:30 PM, Fireflies and other local Boston Burners socialize at the Cambridge Brewing Company in Kendall Square (Cambridge, MA).

Somerville Open Studios

Firefly Arts Collective likes to showcase our art at Somerville Open Studios. We are looking for both artists and volunteers to participate in this annual event! If you are a Firefly participant and want to make this happen, check out!

Project MUM

Originally titled Meet Under McGrath, Project MUM has become an annual nighttime popup open-air dance party and art showcase in Somerville and Cambridge, MA. We encourage DJs, electronic and video art, participatory installations and costumes. The latest incarnation of this was the Firefly Sculpture Garden @ STARBASE MUM!  Check out event photos and videos here: ProjectMUM on

As well as artists and performers, we encourage participation at all levels in making this party happen:

  • Info Booth — Serve as the face of Project MUM and Firefly!  Be the go-to person for participants that have questions about the event.
  • Setup — Help artists (and Project MUM) set up their work in the morning to prepare for the sculpture garden.
  • Breakdown / LNT — Assist with the breakdown of the sculpture garden and party after the event ends at 11pm.
  • Art Transportation — Drive around a big box truck full of art!  You’ll help pack the art up and distribute it back to its rightful owner after the event.

For the past four years, Boston has been one of the host cities for Figment, an urban participatory art festival with a community focus. In Figment, Firefly sees a kindred spirit (many of us help with both), and FAC proudly supports their efforts to bring home-grown art into the heart of the city.

We also take inspiration from groups and events that share a similar vision:
