URGENT VOLUNTEER CALL!

DPW (Department of Public Works) needs YOU for LATE CREW! No special skills or experience needed! 95% of what we do is pick things up/put them down, so if you’re able-bodied, you’re qualified!

Don’t wanna sacrifice burn time but still volunteer? (Firefly is ENTIRELY volunteer run!) Wanna be part of a vital volunteer core that the event can’t happen without? Didn’t get enough woods time & want one more day? Have a chill burn/still have energy by Exodus? Wanna be a part of the magic of the city disappearing back into mists & see the beauty of the woods restored? Wanna ride around on one of those super fun looking Polarises? We have a comfy HQ w/sound, stocked kitchen full of fresh food (produce, meat, vegan, & gluten free noms!), we’ll feed you & welcome you to help yourself to snacks & cold drinks!

DPW is responsible for all physical infrastructure put up for the event for all cores (as well as many other maintenance tasks before and during the event). Breakdown tasks include:

• loading/unloading bins
• collecting/loading infrastructure like plastic folding tables, chairs, tarps, & shade structures into storage
• collecting trail lights
• prepping/loading into our trailer and barn for storage (transported via Polaris)
• taking down shade structures like ez-ups
• quick inventory, and more.

Again, no special skills needed…just an able body! I know us core crew leads can look a bit intimidating in the all-black workwear and are often on the quiet side/have clipped responses, but it’s just that we’re all usually suuuper busy working behind the scenes to make this magic happen & very tired lol (& tend to have a lot of ND introverts). Help us be less overwhelmed/tired so Firefly can keep happening!
